on styling...

I lean towards natural light photojournalism in recording your special moments. I don't like to force moments, but I am happy to direct where necessary. I am also fully versed in studio lighting and flash techniques, which proves handy when reeling off group photos at Chinese wedding banquets! Where possible, I will always do a consultation with you to make sure our styles mesh.

on deposits...

For a special event like a wedding I typically ask for a sum to be put on deposit to secure the date. The remainder is charged just before you receive your final images. My full terms and conditions are available to clients once a date and fee have been agreed. These are sent electronically, so even if we are separated by borders, your booking is assured.

on travel...

I am mostly based in Hong Kong, but also reside in Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur. In recent years I have travelled as far away as France and the US for shoots. A surcharge is applicable on overseas packages, but I aim to tailor prices fairly given that accommodation and travel is also covered by you.

on delivery...

I aim to deliver portrait/family photos within 2-3 weeks and wedding photos within 6-8 weeks. You will typically receive around 600 images for a full day of wedding coverage. All my clients receive their photos through beautiful, bespoke client galleries, which can be password protected. A download PIN can also be generated to offer further privacy. On the other hand, if you want to share your gallery on Facebook or with your friends by email, you'll also find that easy to do.

on studios...

Yes! I do have my own photography studio in Hong Kong which has proven very popular with families, start-ups and creatives. Check out The Kandid, my little Scandinavian influenced workspace in Sheung Wan. I also keep a huge battery of photo props there for those special moments! We've had tapas nights, photography workshops and seminars, hen parties, board game nights and more.

Justin is fantastic at putting you at ease... his studio is stylish, yet fun and informal - a bit like him - and the shots turned out great. If you schedule an evening session you might be lucky enough to share a post-shoot dram with him!

on weddings...

During a special event like a wedding, I prefer to work surreptitiously, never intruding upon a moment too much, whilst at the same time offering a reportage style that fully captures the essence of your event.

I prefer to act as a fly on the wall who is able to capture moments without breaking the flow of an event. What I offer is a bespoke, tailored experience, especially for small to mid-size gatherings.

You can rest assured I always find the time for your extended family portraits too - I know how important these can be for older generations.

on insurance...

Yes, we are fully covered by a reputable agency. I’m not allowed to hang out of helicopters or go rock climbing though.

on gallery prints...

I sell creative images for stock usage at Creative Market. I am also a shareholder at Stocksy, where you can find some of my work. If you have a particular request, do ask.

on dress...

I always arrive to a client event well presented. Why does this matter, you may ask? After all, shouldn't it be the photographer's job to blend in with the background? That is true to an extent, but I find that when people have made an effort to plan and execute a grand event, the least the photographer can do is match those standards.

on gear...

Yes, I own a lot of camera gear.

on distribution of images...

I understand why most photographers strictly control the number of images rendered from a portrait or event shoot. I also understand why many photographers choose to embellish with large watermarks to protect their work, whereas I seldom do. However, I always try to be as flexible as possible with regard to such matters.

Of course, if you need suggestions as to my own preferred printers and book production teams, I am always available to do this and happy to be engaged to produce artistic prints and albums. I work with a number of craft printers, mostly based in North America, who ship worldwide.

on chinese-style group photos…

Yes, I absolutely know how to do these, and I speak Cantonese too :)
